Who is responsible for a blocked sewer — me or Sydney Water?
In Sydney, the property owner is responsible for the private sewer pipes on their property up to the connection point with Sydney Water's main. Sydney Water is responsible for blockages in their mains and the connection point itself. A CCTV inspection pinpoints exactly where the blockage sits — if it's on Sydney Water's side, we'll tell you, and you can lodge it with them for free instead of paying us.
Why does my drain keep blocking up?
Recurring blockages are almost always a pipe problem, not a usage problem. The most common cause in Sydney is tree root intrusion through cracked joints in older clay sewer pipes, followed by pipe bellies (sags) where waste collects, and scale build-up. Clearing the blockage treats the symptom; a CCTV inspection finds the cause so you can fix it permanently.
Can you fix a broken sewer pipe without digging?
Usually, yes. Trenchless pipe relining inserts a resin-saturated liner into the existing pipe and cures it in place, creating a new structural pipe inside the old one. It handles cracks, root damage and most partial collapses without excavating gardens, driveways or floors. Fully collapsed pipes may still need targeted excavation — a camera inspection tells us which repair applies.
